5 Reasons Why You Are Working Out But Not Losing Weight

Over 50% of the people living in Nevada participate in weekly aerobic activity. This is great news and better than the national average.

Are you one of these people who regularly work out? You regularly head to your local Las Vegas gym to get your sweat on.

It can be frustrating to be working out but not losing weight. There are a few things you can do to fix this. Keep reading to learn how to change up your routine and start seeing results.

1. Your Diet

If you’re working out like crazy and not losing weight, the first place you need to look is your diet. To lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you take in. So you need to pay attention to the fuel going in and how much you’re burning vs. storing.

Your exact diet will depend on your individual nutritional needs, but a good rule of thumb is to stick with fresh, natural, and whole foods.

2. Too Much Cardio

You’re correct to include cardio in your gym routine. It boosts your metabolism, keeps your heart healthy, and gets a good sweat going. The problem is that those long, drawn-out cardio sessions can actually reduce your lean muscle mass.

You need this muscle mass to increase and maintain your metabolism. An active metabolism helps you burn more calories over the course of the day.

3. Skipping the Weights

If you’re only focusing on cardio and not doing any weight training, then you’re only doing half the workout. Building lean muscle through strength training will give you better and faster results in your weight loss journey.

If you aren’t ready to start on machines or lifting weights, you can do some bodyweight exercises. These include push-ups, lunges, and squats. You can then build up to using actual weights.

4. Not Pushing Yourself

Focus on working harder and not longer in the gym. Don’t let yourself fall into the trap of thinking that the more time you spend in the gym, the more results you’ll see. Push yourself physically and mentally to maximize your time and see the greatest results.

If you struggle to push yourself, then it can help to work with the professionals. They can work with you to address any issues that may be preventing you from performing to your full potential.

5. No Recovery Time

Now that you’re achieving that sweet burn in your muscles, you need to give them time to recover. You can do this by focusing on different muscle groups from one day to the next.

You could do your upper body and arms one day, your back the next, and your legs on day three. This type of rotation gives your body time to recover while still allowing you to keep your routine of heading to the gym every day.
